Who am I? Ko wai au?

I’m based in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and I’m a coach, facilitator and leadership specialist. I support senior leaders who are curious about the things that make a difference in the organisations they lead and govern.

I’m a Pākehā New Zealander, with ancestry from Scotland and Cornwall. I live in Kāpiti, just outside of Wellington, with my partner and daughters who whakapapa to Ngāti Hine and Ngāti Manu.

I’ve been a coach and facilitator for almost 20 years and have a background in leadership development, systems leadership, culture and change.  I’m particularly interested in helping people and organisations succeed when times are tough, and while I am comfortable working in a boardroom, I believe that we don’t need to be stuck indoors to learn and develop!

I’m known as a straight talker - someone who understands the practicalities of leadership, not just the theory.

I have held a variety of Governance positions, and led teams across public, private, and not for profit sectors over the past 20 years - which means I know that what works on paper isn’t always the same as what works in practice - and I’m way more interested in what works in the real world.

 

A lot of the work I have done in recent years has drawn on an ongoing focus of connecting leadership in place, and draws on key concepts from within Te Aō Māori and Systemic practices.

I have worked with leaders from very diverse backgrounds, serving a wide range of stakeholder groups, and work with clients to make sense of their own culture within their context and how this can be used to support them from a strengths-based perspective.
